Wasted opportunity! Valte slams Duterte’s ‘tete-a-tete’

Sharing is caring!

Former deputy spokesperson Abigail Valte criticizes the recent public address of the President that turned into a “tete-a-tete” between Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo and Mr. Duterte.

“A national address is one of the best weapons available to a sitting president; it must be used wisely, and sparingly, otherwise it loses its impact. It is reserved for times when a president needs the full attention of the nation,” Valte posted on Twitter.

“It also signals to the public the importance of the subject discussed, usually reserved to address serious issues and/or allegations. In this case, the President’s health: the level of noise about it, no matter how much the Palace has tried to downplay it is apparently serious enough to merit a mention in a national address. The administration just signaled that these issues are of paramount importance, and that it is hurting them. Otherwise, why bother?” she added.
