SC tells Falcis to explain late filing of memoranda in plea to legalize same-sex marriage
Lawyer Jesus Nicardo Falcis III, who questioned several provisions in the Family Code prohibiting same-sex marriage, has been issued a show cause order by the Supreme Court.
In a resolution, the SC required Falcis and his co-counsels to explain why they should not be cited in indirect contempt for their failure to file their memoranda in connection with their petition seeking to legalize same sex-marriage.
Also ordered to explain were lawyers Darwin Angeles, Keisha Trina Guangko and Christopher Ryan Maranan of Molo Sia
Dy Tuazon Ty and Coloma Law Offices.
The SC gave them 10 days from notice to submit their explanation.
Falcis, who admitted to being gay, sought the lifting of the prohibitions on same-sex marriage for being unconstitutional.
