PNP charges Trece Martires mayor, others for murder
The Philippine National Police on Thursday filed murder and frustrated murder charges against Trece Martires City Mayor Melandres de Sagun and several other individuals before the Department of Justice in connection with the death of Vice Mayor Alexander Lubigan last July.
In a formal complaint, also sued were Maragondon Cavite Councilor Lawrence Arca, Luis Vasquez Abad Jr., Ariel Fletchetro Paiton, Rhonel Bersamina and several John and Jane Does.
Gemma Lubigan, the wife of the slain official, was also present during the filing of the complaint before the DoJ.
Lubigan was gunned down on July 7. His driver, Romulo Guillemer, also died during the incident. Another aide survived the attack.
