‘People’s Minority Leader’ releases statement on House row
Despite efforts from the group of Rep. Miro Quimbo, the House of Representatives on Tuesday approved a motion recognizing Quezon Rep. Danilo Suarez as Minority Leader.
Suarez also voted in favor of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo as Speaker.
For his part, Quimbo released a statement as the “People’s Minority Leader.”
“The Majority may have chosen its own minority, but the fight continues. Their act—a violation of our own rules—may have given their allies a false label, but we are still here as duly-elected members of the House of Representatives. At this moment, we may not be recognized by the majority, but we now stand as the People’s Minority,” he said.
The abogado-politiko also said that his group will explore legal remedies “in correcting the disregard for our rules and processes,”
“We are your Genuine Minority in the House of Representatives. We are the People’s Minority,” he stressed.
The squabble continues!
