Totoo ba ‘yan? Law student mocks PNP’s plain view doctrine
Law students could not help but mock the Philippine National Police’s recent failure. This transpired after a viral news item from GMA’s 24 Oras surfaced online and it showed how the policemen applied the plain view doctrine.

The abogado aspirants said that this is just a hilarious representation of how the said doctrine can fail. As allowed by the doctrine, media reports showed a policeman inspecting a package he deemed as contraband in a taxi’s trunk.
Upon seeing green leaves, the policeman immediately assumed that it’s marijuana and seized the item. He immediately placed the citizen under custody but it will turn out as a wrongful assumption on the part of the police. Further investigation showed that it was just dried pieces of “gabi”, contrary to their claims.
