Govt sets up P500K bounty for Peter Lim’s arrest
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra on Friday announced a P500,000 bounty for anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of presidential kumpadre and Cebu businessman Peter Lim who was accused of complicity in big-time illegal drugs activities.
Also, Guevarra warned any persons coddling, or aiding Lim to evade arrest, that they maybe prosecuted for obstruction of justice.
” Government is also ready to give a reward of P500,000 to anyone who can give information on the exact whereabouts of accused peter go lim, provided that such information will lead to the actual arrest of said fugitive,” Guevarra said.
Recently, Guevarra called on Lim to surrender to authorities and face the drug trading conspiracy case filed against him before a Makati City regional trial court.
“There is a legal doctrine that flight is an indication – although not conclusive – of one’s guilt,” he stressed in a SMS to reporters.
Guevarra revealed that the hunt for Lim by Philippine National Police and National Bureau of Investigation operatives continues since the Makati City RTC Branch 65 ordered his arrest last Aug. 14.
” Too bad the PNP and the NBI have yet to find some leads as to his whereabouts,” he lamented.
The Department of Justice indicted Lim last Aug. 10 after finding probable cause in the complaint filed by the PNP-CIDG, which was earlier dismissed by a previous panel of prosecutors. Also charged in court were detained drug trader Kerwin Espinosa, state witness Marcelo Adorco and Ruel Malindangan.
