BI orders Sister Fox deported
The Bureau of Immigration ordered the deportation of Australian nun Patricia Fox who was previously accused of violating the conditions for her stay in the country.
She was also included in the BI blacklist.
“Well of course I’m disappointed, but that’s the order, and we’ll look at what we can do about it,” Fox said through her lawyer.
Earlier, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra granted Fox’s motion for reconsideration, stressing that the BI’s forfeiture of the 71-year-old missionary’s visa has no legal basis.
“Our existing immigration laws outline what the BI can do to foreigners and their papers – including visas – when they commit certain acts within Philippine territory. What the BI did in this case is beyond what the law provides, that is why it has to be struck down,” Guevarra said.
Guevarra ordered the BI to review her deportation case after granting her MR
