Di na mahahabol! Dead Cavite prosecutor removed as respondent in Atio’s hazing case
The late Cavite chief prosecutor Emmanuel Velasco must be turning in his grave at what his fraternity has become.
Lawyer Lino Kapunan, the legal counsel of the parents of hazing victim Horacio “Atio” Castillo III, has asked the Department of Justice (DOJ) to remove Velasco as a respondent in the case.
Kapunan explained to the DOJ panel of prosecutors handling the case, Velasco should not be included as a respondent “considering that he is deceased already.”
Velasco was among the respondents named in the criminal complaints filed by the parents before the DOJ in connection with the death of the Aegis Juris neophyte who died during the initiation rites held on September 17.
Velasco had been a member of the board of trustees of the fraternity along with University of Sto. Tomas (UST) law dean Nilo Divina.
