Tanggal kung tanggal! Nilo Divina says 8 students involved in Atio’s fatal hazing will be expelled
Embattled abogado Nilo Divina will make sure that the eight law students involved in the fatal hazing of University of Santo Tomas (UST) freshman student Horacio “Atio” Castillo III will be expelled– even if they are his fraternity brothers.
Divina, the dean of the UST Faculty of Civil Law, said the institution will carry out the decision of the school’s committee to expel the students.
“The committee has exercised the authority and carried out the mandate that the university has given. Its resolution will be faithfully implemented by the faculty of civil law,” he said.
UST said its committee, which was formed to look into Castillo’s death, found that the eight law students were guilty of violating the Code of Conduct and Discipline.
Castillo died after undergoing hazing rites of the Aegis Juris fraternity in September 2017.
UST’s decision came as Castillo’s parents bared their plan to file a complaint against the school before the Vatican over its officials’ alleged inaction over his death.
Divina claimed he had taken a leave from Aegis Juris since becoming dean.
