Kaya wala nang kaso? DOJ taps ex-Customs officials as witnesses in P6.4B shabu shipment case
The Department of Justice on Thursday announced that it would utilize officers from the Bureau of Customs (BOC), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) as witnesses in the P6.4-billion shabu shipment case from China.
Among those listed as witnesses were former Customs Investigation and Intelligence Service chief Neil Anthony Estrella; intelligence officers Joel Pinawin and Oliver Valiente; and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)’s Norman Balquiedra and lawyer Aljuhari Mangilan.
Also inlcuded were agents of the National Bureau of Investigation- Anti Organized and Transnational Crime Division (NBI-AOTCD), namely: Atty. Marie Catherine Nolasco, Marfil Baso, Joselito Guillen, Darwin Francisco and Edgardo Kawada; and warehouseman Fidel Anoche Dee and his sister Emily Anoche Dee.
The other day, the DoJ dismissed the charges against former Customs head Nicanor Faeldon and 11 other officials of the Bureau of Customs.
However, it recommended the filing of slew of charges against several others who are mostly private individuals.
