Hindi naman kinontra! Divina claims Atio’s parents cleared him of hazing raps
Abogado Nilo Divina, dean of the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Civil Law, called the reply of the parents of hazing victim Horacio “Atio” Castillo III to his counter-affidavit as a “virtual exoneration.”
On Friday, Divina submitted a rejoinder-affidavit before the investigating panel of the Department of Justice in the criminal case against members and alumni of the Aegis Juris fraternity.
In his affidavit, the abogado, who’s also an alumnus of Aegis Juris, said that the reply of Atio’s parents “failed to rebut his defenses and, as such, exculpates him from the charges of murder, violation of the Anti-Hazing Law and obstruction of justice.”
He said that just because he was a member of the fraternity and was aware of its activities before doesn’t “translate to knowledge of the recruitment and hazing of Atio.”
