Bugbog sarado rin! Duterte hated hazing by Lex Talionis brods, says Atio’s parents
President Rodrigo Duterte may be a proud member of the San Beda College of Law-based Lex Talionis fraternity, but he didn’t like the ordeal he went through to be considered a “brod.”
In an interview over ANC’s “Headstart” Wednesday (October 11), the mother of hazing victim Horacio Tomas “Atio” Castillo III shared what the President told her and her husband during their meeting at Malacañang last week.
“He (Duterte) narrated how he was in his own frat and he didn’t like it na may hazing. He even contacted the police na tutukan ang case,” Carminia Castillo said.
Horacio Castillo Jr., Atio’s father, said Duterte wants the culture of hazing to stop.
“He told us that, and hopefully this would be the last hazing,” he said.
Atio, a freshman law student at the University of Santo Tomas, died after undergoing hazing rites by members of the Aegis Juris fraternity last month.
Days after his death, Duterte said he was brought to a hospital after going through hazing.
“Kaya ako, three days ako umuwi kaagad ako. Pa-ospital. Massive hematoma,” Duterte told members of the media over dinner in Davao City on September 22.
Atio’s parents said Duterte assured them there will be no whitewash in the investigation of his death.
