Baybay, Leyte Judge Arguelles to visit jail where Marcos and CIDG team killed Mayor Espinosa
The Baybay City court wants to see the place where Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr. was killed by policemen.
Judge Carlos Arguelles of the Baybay City regional trial court (RTC) branch 14 is set to visit this Wednesday (November 15) sub-provincial jail in Baybay City.
His visit is part of the ongoing trial against those who are charged with homicide for the death of Espinosa and cell mate, drug accused Raul Yap, who were killed at the jail on November 5, 2016.
Supt. Marvin Marcos of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) is among 19 persons charged in connection with the case.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) initially filed double murder charges in court but subsequently downgraded the case to homicide.
Espinosa and Yap were allegedly victims of extrajudicial killings contrary to police claims the two inmates fired at cops who were serving a search warrant.
